Tax – San Marcos, TX

Our Tax Department continues to grow in number and in volume of work, and we need an excited Staff to help us kick off the busy season.

This position is an in-office position during normal business hours.  Evenings and weekends, if necessary, can be remote work.

WHO ARE YOU?  You're an Accounting grad who has a plan in place (or in process) to get your Texas CPA and who has worked in Tax for at least one busy season.  You're interested in joining a small firm where you can begin your career and develop your skills while serving our fantastic clients. 

POSITION SUMMARY At the staff level, an individual is expected to become familiar with the Firm's policies and procedures; understand the rules, regulations, and code of professional conduct of the AICPA; possess an understanding of pertinent IRC sections and regulations; and obtain a working knowledge of research techniques and the various research sources available to the Firm, Become proficient in preparing basic returns: Corporate, Partnership, Fiduciary, Individual, Estate & Gift Tax, and Not for Profit through the proper preparation and organization of work papers. Most assignments will involve the preparation of tax returns and will therefore be compliance-oriented.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline (four-year college or university)
  • Experience: One tax season internship desired
  • Computer Skills:  Proficient with computer and MS Office Suite, (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Desired: QuickBooks, Thomson Reuters Tax Suite (Ultra Tax, GoFile Room, SafeSend integration), Adobe Acrobat.

WHO ARE YOU?  You’re a CPA/EA or in the process of acquiring, and the last 3 – 5 years of your career have been spent in public accounting.  If you’re a top candidate, you’ll have 1- 2 years of review and advisory experience in a variety of industries. You feel comfortable researching and proactively advising clients on opportunities and best practices. As you succeed in the role, your impact on the firm will shine through your work, your involvement in the San Marcos professional community, and your zeal for business development. We’re looking for someone with firm ownership listed among their long-term goals. 

POSITION SUMMARY At the Senior level, an individual is expected to be knowledgeable of the Firm's policies and procedures; understand the rules, regulations, and code of professional conduct of the AICPA; possess an understanding of pertinent IRC sections and regulations; and possess an ability to employ successful research techniques using various research sources available to the Firm. Most assignments will involve the preparation of tax returns with additional responsibilities in supervising and reviewing returns prepared by associate staff members, working independently, and communicating with clients.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Computer Skills:  Proficient with computer and MS Office Suite, (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). Desired: QuickBooks, Thomson Reuters Tax Suite (Ultra Tax, GoFile Room, SafeSend integration), Adobe Acrobat.
  • Certificates & Licenses: CPA and/or EA licenses preferred.
